Welcome to LCMS School Counseling
Mission:
The mission of LCMS Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, personal/social development of students. School counselors strive to empower students to maximize their potential and academic achievement, while supporting them emotionally, encouraging good mental health. In partnership with other educators, parents, & community members, school counselors support the educational system to ensure all students at LCMS are prepared with the knowledge to be lifelong learners in an ever changing society. Our School Counseling Program follows ASCA's National Model with standards and competencies. The ASCA National Standards serve as the program foundation, while student competencies define the knowledge, attitudes, & skills students should obtain. |

Standards in this area guide the school counseling program to implement strategies and activities to support and enable the student to experience academic success. Counselors are active members of RTI meetings & attendance team meetings, serve as Hospital Homebound Coordinators & 504 School level Coordinator, meet with students for individual planning & advisement, school-wide transition activities, etc.

Standards in this area focus on providing the foundation for personal and social growth as students progress through school and into adulthood. This begins with our school-wide Character Education program delivered 2 days weekly. In addition, school counselors meet with small groups and individuals based on need.
Lumpkin County Schools is partnering with GA Hope to increase access to affordable Mental Health Services. We have a Mental Health Counselor available at the Middle School to support students & families. Students can be referred to Georgia HOPE for more intensive and personalized social, emotional and mental health services throughout the school year.
